Why are salt silos for winter salting stored in a dome shaped like a triangle?
Salt silos are probably domes because it is an efficient shape; spheres are the smallest surface for internal volume of any shape, but half-spheres (dome) are easier to build
not only easier to build but the weight of the snow is very heavy.with the dome the snow rolls right off the roof.
