everytime i turn my vacuum cleaner on ,my dog gos nuts starts barking and trys to bite it, ?? why they do that
you have to socialize your dog to it so it wont be scared of it anymore. my chihuahua was easy to socialize because she was still a puppy and chihuahua puppies learn best better than when they are adults. everytime i turned the vacuum on she barked i then i turned it off. i turned it on again and then off then whenever she got used to it i gave her a treat and she was socialized to it!
I can't be positive but, I'm guessing it's the wheels. My dog Roscoe bites at the wheels of the vacuum, the lawn mower, and the mountain bike. The mower or the vacuum do not have to be on or running he just has to see it moving and he's nipping at it.
They don't.. Dogs that haven't been socialized to the vacuum or a dog that has been teased w/ a vacuum might act like that. Normal well balanced dogs don't do that. Edit : The vacuum does not hurt their ears, most of my dogs love to be vacuumed.. The rest of them just lay there and make me vacuum around them... 10 dogs and none of them are afraid... Hmmm... None of them are death.. It MUST be that they are socialized well and well bred, well balanced dogs who have no ridiculous fears..
Your dog is probably thinking oooh goody a toy play play play play!!!! he/she might also be thinking, Oh no that stupid and loud vacuum cleaner is on again, or What is that thing? Its invading my territory. What if it pees and marks its spot? aah!!!! I would suggest putting your dog outside when you vacuum. It wouldn't hurt your dogs ears as much (because he/she wouldn't hear it) And if your dog does have a territory in your home, and your dog is inside, don't vacuum so close to it unless your dog could really care aless or he/she is outside! I really hope this helped!
My GSD is very socialized, but when you turn on the vacuum cleaner, the lawn mower, hair dryer, etc...it's on. He will attack it unless I command him to stop. This is an anxiety disorder, your dog does not have to be teased as someone suggested, it can just be in the dogs disposition.
