Why do so many buildings in Manhattan have scaffolding on the street level?
Probably because many building are old and have to be repaired and they don't want stuff falling on people. Regulations require it when they are working on buildings.
A few years ago pieces of building facades were falling onto the sidewalks. The city then insisted that all building facades be inspected and repaired. You are seeing the results of the inspections.
the buildings are probably worn out and need renovations the scaffoldings there so some1 doesnt get injured its the same here in queens, nyc anywhere i walk, those are there lol theres are 3 being renovated around where i live
My friend, the reason for the scaffolding, is to prevent sidewalk accidents. It is used when a building is being renovated or is under construction, as required by city building codes. Good luck
I can think of two reasons: --The building owners are making changes to the entrance and first floor areas --The building owners are making changes to the upper levels, and the scaffolding is to prevent injuries to pedestrians in the case of falling construction debris.
