Question:

Why do some baritones have 3 valves and others have 4?

I been playing the trombone for 6 years, do you think i could learn to play the baritone easily, which baritone is easier,3 valve or 4 valve.

Answer:

The forth valve on the baritone is the same as the trigger on a trombone - it lowers the pitch 2 1/2 tones to extend the range downward, to assist in improving intonation, and to solve so tricky fingering problems. You can learn baritone quite easy, if you relate what you know on the trombone to it. Here is a quick lesson on valve playing. Trombone position Baritone valves 1 Open 2 2 3 1 4 1 2 5 2 3 6 1 3 7 1, 2 3 Trigger 4 On high F#, you must play 2 3 On High G, you must play 1 2 Good Luck! It is a great and wonderful instrument to learn, and will help you trombone playing, too!
Some baritones have 3 valves, but the others have 4. The 3 valved ones are baritones and then the 4 valved ones are euphoniums.
