For the past week or so my car alarm has been going off, but it‘s getting worse. Just this morning it went off every five minutes or so. Finally it subsided in the afternoon. I took it to Autozone for diagnostic, but they said unless the check engine light was on they had no clue. It‘s been going off at 3 and 4 in the morning and I‘m about to take a sledgehammer to my car. I don‘t have the funds to take it in. Does any one know why this could be happening or what I could do to fix it?
Check the battery, clean and tighten the connections, but if the battery is weak, the voltage dropping as it gets cold might signal enough drop to the alarm to trigger it. I have seen batteries last longer than 5 years, but I've seen so many complaints about the Aveo, I would really suspect not much quality and expect its battery to be almost used up by now.
It's your neighbor trying to syphon your gasoline.
Since you have not mentioned what car you have, help is limited. Some cars have a sensitivity adjuster where you can adjust the sensitivity of the car alarm. From, example, the wind blowing it and causing it to go off to a truck hitting it and it going off. Ideally, you should call up the manufacturers, they will be able to help you and assist you better.
