Question:

Why Does My New AC Condenser Fan Motor Turns the Opposite Direction Now?

Just replaced the outside condenser units fan motor and it turns the opposite direction than the old one. Wires are correct. Switched the leads on the running capacitor and it didn't help. Any suggestions??

Answer:

turn it off switch the yellow and orange that will change your rotation1 yellow to 1 orange as long as its a reversable motor
It would be a good idea to replace the fan motor. Its probably the cause of the overload that kicks out your relay which really shouldn't be happening. It should blow the fuse and probably will soon enough. The relay will also cut out when the compressor cycles which would be normal. The fan motor will get hot when running but it shouldn't be making any abnormal noises.
If its a reversible like one of the trip savers look at the diagram on the motor. Not exactly sure what the colors are but its the 4 wires that get connected together right from the motor ( all 4 will be 2 different colors ) like 2 orange and 2 yellow for example. Just switch these from how you have yelow to yellow / yellow to yelloe or yellow to orange/ yellow to orange If its not one of these switch your hot and common - I've seen this work one time
Reverse the start windings on the motor. #5 #8.
