Why is blast furnace iron pig iron export lower than slag outlet?

Why is blast furnace iron pig iron export lower than slag outlet?

Answer:

To put it plainly, the slag is light and heavy, and the slag is above the molten iron. But now there is no slag in the large blast furnace. The slag and iron are discharged from the same taphole. A slag skimmer is installed in the main groove to ensure the separation of slag and iron.
Because the density of iron is greater than the density of the slag, iron and slag are sunk at the bottom of the hearth. Therefore, the blast furnace should be set below the slag port to smooth out the molten iron.
Because the main component of slag is CaSiO3, its density is less than the density of molten iron, always floating above the molten iron, so the tap is lower than the slag outlet
