I purchased a 2001 Nissan Altima GXE less than two weeks ago. The car is in great shape overall, but seems to have a slight problem with its alarm: it sometimes goes off for no reason. It has gone off when I‘ve tried to use the key fob for automatic start, when I have tried to unlock the car with the key fob, and sometimes even when simply opening a door. It‘s just weird, though, because it only happens sometimes--it‘s fine most of the time! I don‘t know what could be causing it, but it‘s unexpected, annoying, and sometimes even embarrassing when it goes off. Any ideas?
It will be the shock sensor. You need to find the alarm unit, usually under the steering column and it should have a dial to adjust the sensitivity of the shock sensor. some alarms will have different ways of adjusting it.
