Question:

Why is plastic bad for the environment?

i have checked on google but it always talks about plastic bags. im talking about plastic in general.plss help me ASAP!!!

Answer:

it is bad for the environment because there is no natural process for decomposing plastics back into useful material that is found in soil, so when u leave a piece of plastic outside it will just stay there most other things when left to nature are broken down in some way
Yup plastic takes over 700 hundred years to disintegrate. So imagine when all this build of plastic fills up the environment, it becomes a nuisance and creates a filthy environment for people/animals.
Plastic takes a loooong time to break down. Even plastics that date from the early 20th century still exist to a large extent. Believe it or not? Plastics largely come from crude OIL. Which is why I am amazed and kinda displeased by the amount of plastci in our everyday modern life. Even a short a time as the 1970's, many products and materials had only minimal plastics. Now, Even toasters are on the whole made of plastics.it makes no sense. How do you reduce oil use that way? Honestly, we don't. So, more and more non degrading plastics make it into trash. Nor is most of it practical to recycle. Which is why I shy away from buying new stuff as much as can. When I need a toaster? I go to a garage, estate, or even antique shop. Then buy an all steel one. Only my microwave is new and plastic. My stove is a 1948. My fridge is a 1936. My small appliances date from no newer than 1965. TV, computers, etc. There, I have no choice. Plastic, plastic plastic. Rather P.O's me.My little way of recycling is to buy used and well made. Wrap my sandwiches in tin foil, etc.... Rather hope we return to making things out of real recyclables. I'd pay the price asked.
Plastic packaging waste into the environment, due to its very difficult to degrade, resulting in long-term, deep ecological and environmental problems. First, the waste plastic packaging mixed in the soil, affecting the crops to absorb nutrients and moisture, will result in crop production; Second, abandoned on land or water of waste plastic packaging, as food ingestion by animals, leading to animal death (in Zoo and pastoral areas and the ocean, such cases have been common); third, mixed with garbage in the waste plastic packaging is difficult to handle: landfill will be long-term occupation of land, mixed plastic waste does not apply to composting , sorting out of waste plastic is also very difficult due to inability to ensure the quality and recycling.
