Moisture is attracted to the polyester fiber which draws it away instead of absorbing it, so it can evaporate, which in turn cools you off. Older polyester fabrics, like a 1970s suit, does not breathe which traps sweat. Cottons breathe very well, but also absorb moisture instead of pulling it away. The best sports fabrics are blends of high-tech polyester and cotton which use the best features of both. Wicking and breathing.
