After using copper for its intended purpose, many people just throw the copper into landfills. Given that there is a limited amount of malachite on the planet, and other factors, why is throwing the metal away wasteful?
Hi, the process of copper extraction from Malachite will always generate gangue or waste material usually just before froth flotation stage process....recycling techniques are very poor for copper given that usuage of copper is mostly for wiring complicated electrical components and it would be very expensive to try to sort out such copper from these components...the politcal issue of what to do with the waste copper from machines etc would be very significant too given that poorer countries usually esemble the copper in to the component and the rich countries use the computer, tv , car etc etc so who should take responsiblility for paying for copper recycling? Malachite is only one of about ten different ores from which we can extract copper - chaclopyrite and bornite are other important copper ores - some might argue that environmental implications of extraction of these ores which involves block leaching (resulting in production of acidic leach compounds) is a more important focus rather than the copper waste we generate....politcal issues need to be sorted before we can establish a successful and economically rewarding way of recycling large scale copper waste
This is a pretty gay question..but..yea..I put that its wasteful to throw it into a landfill cuz it would be harder to recover when it could of otherwise been recycled. Idk..best thing I could come up with.
look at the price to farm precious metals vs. scraping its pretty simple math and you are hot.
