Steel structures have much lighter weight than concrete structures. The weight of concrete high-rise structure is about 1200kg / square meters of building area, and steel weight about 500kg / square meters building area. So the same foundation, the steel structure may be built higher;
The toughness of steel structure is better than that of concrete structure, and its seismic performance is good, which is incomparable to concrete structure. GB50011-2010 "building seismic design code" provides the maximum applicable height, to fortify the 6 degree area, for example, concrete structure 80M, and steel structure is 300M high;
The steel strength (tensile and compressive) than concrete, steel (standard) 345Mpa (pull) above, 200Mpa (pressure), and concrete (standard) 10Mpa (pull), 100Mpa (pressure), so don't need stupid thick section.
