I am in the process of learning about and building an electric go kart. I have several questions and am seeking help on electrical issues. I would like to power this kart with an electrical motor and car batteries, possibly chained together for more amps. I have several large AC motors and was wondering if a car adapter like this one
depends on the size(wattage output) of your inverter. you'd be better of staying DC
before you get carried away, do some more research. drop a note to EV Parts, or Thunderstruck Motors and ask questions. AC motors and controllers will be pricey. DC motors and related parts will be cheaper.
Start with a DC motor and car batery. Once you master that, upgrade to your AC moter and AC/DC converter and power conditioner. First law of motors: Speed of DC motor controlled by voltage. Speed of AC motor controlled by cycle frequency.
