. type of lining?I have a fake leather biker jacket that I absolutely adore. I wear it incessantly. The only problem is that the lining is 100% polyester, which traps heat, so I get very, very hot after a few hours of wearing it. If I take it to a tailor, will he/she be able to remove the polyester lining and put in a cloth lining of some sort instead? I‘ve considered just pulling out the lining myself and wearing the jacket without it, but the feeling of fake leather directly against my skin isn‘t the most comfortable.Bonus questions: Any idea how much this will cost? And what should the new lining I get put in be made of?Thanks so much for all answers.
I agree with Kay; fake leather is hot on its own. I don't think changing the lining will help. A tailor could change it, but it wouldn't be cheap. They would have to take out the existing lining, cut a new one and then stitch it in, probably by hand. If you still want to do it, take it to a tailor or alterationist and ask them for an estimate.
Oh yes, any good tailor will be able to do this. I don't think changing the lining is going to make much difference for you. It is going to cost a lot! While it appears simple enough, to get a new lining in is a lot of work. It means almost re-doing the whole jacket. It's very labour intensive.
A tailor or seamstress shouldn't have any problem replacing the lining of your beloved jacket and they would be the best person to advise on what material would suit your purpose.
