I‘m trying to grow my hair back to its natural color, and tone down the brassiness from previous dye jobs in the mean time. So I‘m trying to find a way to do it without using actual hair dye. I went to a beauty supply store, and while they didn‘t have any toner, the sales associate did tell me to use a violet ADDITIVE which would do the same thing. Is this accurate? I‘m afraid of frying my hair or turning it purple. Please help!
John Frieda variety is well, but in addition the Stefan merchandise are well too(if you happen to are living in Australia). Also i placed a John Frieda blonde conditioning remedy by way of my hair as soon as every week and this fairly eliminates any yellow, brassy tones.
An additive is basically a small plastic container of dye ( or food color ) that can be added to shampoo, conditioner, etc, as a gentle way of cutting the yellow brassiness. Yes, they work. No, I promise they will not turn your hair purple. They coat the hair, not penetrate he cortex. They are easily washed out and are very subtle. Some popular brands are Unred and Lock-in Blonde. Yes, I have heard rinsing hair with purple grape fruit juice helps. I have tried it myself, but it did not help too much. However, it's worth a try.
Ok, some of the stuff that the people above me have said sort of makes me laugh! If you are trying to go blonde: A violet additive, is usually added to bleach, to cut brassiness when the hair's melanin is broken down. A toner, does have to be watched because it could very easily turn you gray. I would not do anything with the additive that you bought, it is too risky if you do not really know what you are doing. I would recommend a violet shampoo. This would be the easiest way for you to achieve the blond you want and will not turn you purple. It will eliminate and tone your hair just with just the shampoo (more than one wash, typically). You need to keep using it for consistent results.
