Question:

Will attaching a L6006 low limit controller to a L8148A aquastat allow me to control a boiler's temp settings?

I have a Dunkirk boiler with a Honeywell L8148A aquastat that just allows me to set the high end temp. I keep it at 180. But it won't let me set a low limit for when I want the heat to kick in. (it seems like it's been short cycling. I had an electrician come and he tested everything, thermostats, zone heads, you name it, and evreything is in working order). If I buy a low limit controller, will it allow me to do this; to set a low range and not have the boiler starting up every few minutes? Thanks for your help.

Answer:

The reason you have an aqua-stat is to keep the water in the boiler right around boiling. So you don't have to wait so long for the boiler to heat the water before it turns into steam. If anything just turn the aqua-stat down. But remember that it will take longer for the steam/hot water to get into your system. Because it has to heat up. I've never seen a steam system with one (it maybe possible). - I think the dual controls would counter act each other. -One would tell the boiler to stay at 180 degrees the othe would tell it go go down to 100 degrees.
99.9% of the time, I drive below the speed limit because it's the right thing to do. The other 0.01% of the time, I'll go all the way up to the speed limit when getting on the freeway... but eventually will get back down to under the limit. People seem to think that the speed limit is a minimum. Of course, it's normal and acceptable that someone dies every twenty minutes in a car accident.
