Question:

Will Dish washing liquid soap damage Romex power cables?

Hi. I was snaking 40 feet of underground burial power cable thru a PVC conduit. As I did not have any cable pulling lubricant, I used JOY dishwashing liquid detergent as a lube for pulling the cable with a snake. Will that damage or detiorate the outer jacket of the cable it is still in the conduit. The flexible conduit I used is water tight and I have plugged both openings with silicine caulk.

Answer:

im not positive, but it should be fine.
It'll be ok for about 5 years. The chemicals will eat through the outer casing which is more resilient than the inner insulation. Next time, go to Lowe's, Home Depot and purchase some Wire-pulling lubricant.
No, it should be just fine.
