Question:

Will mice chew on electrical wires?

I had a small infestation of mice in my garage a few years back. I noticed a hole under the breaker box that looks like it was from the mice. Is it likely that they chewed on the wiring or was this just an entry point? How would I know without tearing out the drywall or pulling all new wiring?

Answer:

it is not likely that the bang sound has something to do with wires. maximum probable there's a loose piece of wood or something on your attic that style of acts like a see-observed while the mouse's weight is on one ingredient of it. Are you particular it is not a squirrel on your attic? Squirrels do bounce and create banging sounds. stable success!
yep :(.i live in open country and my dishwasher caught fire last year, when i called up the manufacturer to complain they sent some1 out to check it, i had a mouse inside the control panel which had eaten through the wires, on closer inspection there was a hole in the cupboard close to where i plug it into the wall, i rang the pest ppl and they told me to put a soap steel wood pad in the hole and this would keep rats n mice away, as they hate the smell of soap and cant eat through the steel wool, ive had no problems since :). ummmm.now if u can Just help me with my pool problems ever1 should be happy :) good luck to u
Mice will chew on almost anything. I was on a job once - mice infested - noticed I was having trouble with my computer - my boss took the side plate off and mice had built a nest right inside - major parts had to be replaced. Mice are a menace! They are very hard to control - if there's one there's a 100 - they breed like rabbits. Try calling pest control or an electrician.
Do Mice Eat Electrical Wires
Yes the mice will eat the insulation of the wires, you might be able to check the wires with a dentist mirror and a torch, not sure if you can remove/open the breaker box and inspect that way. Hope this helps a bit You wil see the exposed wires, you will need to turn off the power to the breaker box,use a straight edge and a sharp stanley knife, cut the gyprok sheet neatly around the stud work you might need to buy a new gyprock sheet, you will need to get a sparkey in to replace the wires, also ask him to put it into conduit. Also put some rat sack(they eat it and go off to die) into the cavity before replacing the gyprock sheet
