will polishing aluminum motorcycle heads with brasso damage them or any other cast aluminum parts?

Answer:

Brasso is good for aluminumYes,it DOES indeed have a very fine abrasiveAny Metal Polishing involves various degree of abrasionThats part of the oxidation removal processAluminum especiallyBrasso is so fine that it's routinely used to polish things like Watch Crystals, and CD's which have become scratchedThere's a buncha stuff that works great for aluminumIt's a pain,,,but if you REALLY want it ShinyAfter You're done with whatever polish you chose,,, Scrub it with some Plain ,Dry Flour on a soft towel,,,actual felt is bestAll-Purpose Flour,,,NOT Self-Rising (it has salts) On a Cyl Head,,,You may do better using a drill with some Red Rouge on a Drill with a Buffing wheelLots easier and fasterGet some wooden dowel rods,,,,tape some strips of cloth onto them like making a long skinny FlagChuck them in a drill and let 'em roll up on the dowel, them dope 'em with the Rouge, You can get into very small spacesLeave a bit hanging off the end to form a soft ball nose on the dowel,,,and You can jam that into corners, etcTakes a bit of Creativity as for size, shape of your homemade buffsBut it's Cheap,Easy,Quick to make,,,,and You can create shapes and sizes not readily available commerciallyOn Really gory rough places,,,use some 400 wet or dry paper to cut it flat/level,,,then follow with 600,,,and finish w/ Red RougeIt's tedious and time consuming sometimes,,,dont rush it,,dont force it, Let your materials do the work Good Luck,,hope it comes out Very Nice
