As i recall, yes, it will work. If it is just a project, ok. But I wouldn't run water through it or use it for plumbing or have it under pressure.
no. you can use a purple primer and the correct cpvc glue which is typically a yellow color. this will allow correct adhesion no matter the use....
If the joint is in an area that cannot be seen, I would change it out with a couplings and a piece of pipe. It is no longer code to use a combination glue that was manufactured for both PVC and CPVC. This should tell you that PVC glue on CPVC will probably not hold.
Well it's not recommended for pipes under pressure. CPVC has a special cement and primer to use when cementing it together. Oatey has a multi-purpose cement that works with PVC, CPVC, and ABS Royalex. Use CPVC Primer it is clear and doesn't give a glossy coating to the pipe on application.
