I bought my wife a cd player for her car and the wiring harness I need says its only for a 1988-1999 model cavalier. Is it the same for an 02 model as well? Im sure it would be, but I need to make sure before I ge it. Thanks
No, the 2000+ moved to a completely different radio size and harness design. Also, the factory radio is controlled by the vehicle's data bus system, and it generates the vehicle's audible warning chimes (key chime, lights left on, etc). If you don't mind losing the warning chimes, and doing a little extra wiring to connect an accessory power source to the new head unit, you can use a Metra 70-2003 harness. If you want to keep the chimes, or make the installation as easy as possible, and you don't mind spending more money, look for a Metra GMRC-01 or GMOS-01 adapter module.
