Question:

Would this capacitor work for a coilgun?

Would this capacitor work for a coilgun?

Answer:

Thar capacitor that you have thar, aren't be enuff. Just kidding about the grammar. Anyway The capacitor you have there, is not enough. As the post below me had mentioned it, resistance is too low. So voltage and current come out too slow. Get a bunch of low-internal resistance caps and wire them up with bus bars, or 0 gauge electric wiring. Don't include yourself in the circuit is all I have to say. And also
While the energy level will accelerate your projectile, the limit will be controlled by the delivery time of the 12.8 kJ. The capacitors effective series resistance will determine its discharge rate, but I could not get that information from what you supplied. The slower the energy transfer function the longer your gun barrel or rail will have to be for a single capacitor gun. Hope this helps, Newton1Law
No, the internal resistance of supercaps is too high for this use. You need lots of high quality (Low internal resistance) electrolytic caps wired together with copper bus bars.
