Must haves: A bike (duh) Water bottle and cage/holder a helment gloves are great because falling on your hands hurts sunglasses The special shorts are great because they are made of spandex and don't ride up on you. Saddle bag with spare tube and CO2 inflator (in case of a flat!) and a tire lever. Optional but really nice to have: Bike computer Jerseys Clipless Pedals and Shoes Camel baks That's all I can think of now. Good luck

No, an oil burner cannot give off CO if not in actual use. However, there are other potential sources of toxic fumes that may be a cause. In no particular order: a) Leaking wax seal at a toilet: This will allow sewer gas into the living area. b) Open trap in a sink, tub, floor drain or other location: Venting sewer gas, as above. c) Cracked soil line or stack (vent): As above. d) Stored VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) with leaky containers: Kerosene, naptha, gasoline, paint stripper and any of several other materials. e) Leaking gas - natural or propane: even a small amount can accumulate enough to cause a toxic reaction. f) Poor ventilation: If you are running unvented fuel-fired appliances and do not give them enough ventilation, you may not be getting CO, but you may be depleting the available oxygen. g) At least here in the US, it is pollen season. And, change the batteries in the detector anyway. That way you will be sure it is working.
