Question:

Zinc + Copper Sulphate Solution. Please Help!?

Ok. I am doing some homework, basically the question says that you add some Zinc to Copper Sulphate Solution. It asks why does the solution becomes a PALER blue.?I have no idea. Please help me. I didn't even know that Copper Sulphate Solution was blue, let alone goes paler by adding Zinc to it.

Answer:

Copper sulfate is this really pretty deep blue. The reason it gets paler in color is because some of the zinc replaces some of the copper creating zinc sulfate. It would eventually completely change color if there was enough zinc added. Hope it helps.
