Question:

Zippo Lighter vs Disposable Lighter question?

What are the advantages to having a Zippo lighter vs a disposable lighter, and does a zippo lighter burn fuel slower cause I know they work differently

Answer:

Zippo lighters use a different type of fuel than disposables. Zippos use liquid lighter fluid. When you pull the lighter out of its case, there is wadding in the bottom section of the lighter. You soak the wadding with the lighter fluid and use the lighter till it goes dry. Then refill. You can also change the flint and/or wick on them when necessary. Most disposables are butane (gas) lighters. Butane is sold in pressurized cans and you can get refillable butane lighters. The disposables are easy to use and frequently take less effort to light than the zippos, but many people love the zippos because of nostalgia or the old warranty. Zippo used to have a warranty that if it ever failed, they would replace it. There are many stories about the lighters that they've replace over the years. There are also many about the abuse that some took and didn't need replacing. If you only use the lighter occasionally, a disposable butane will hold the charge longer. If you use it regularly, they're probably about the same.
im pretty sure Zippo lighters do last longer, my grandfather had a huge one (the size of a back-pocket) and he loved it because he never lost it, and it worked great...
Both work off the exact same chemical dont they? just a zippo is a brand and a different mechanism, i.e it stays alight and you can snap it shut all cool like. A zippo does smell more pungent though. But at any rate, the fumes are ignited and dont come into any contact with the cigarette.By the time a flame is created the chemical is gone. So regardless of the chemicals used, cigarettes are equally bad for you whether lit with a zippo or ordinary lighter.
I like my Zippos, because they really sound cool. 'Snick!- Poof!- Chink!' And the plastic disposables never go away.
