First-glad you're taking the plunge! ; ) To answer your questionit depends on if your city picks it up and how they like itIn my town, everything but glass is picked up, and it doesn't have to be pre-sortedSo I have two trash cans side by side in the kitchen-one for trash and one for recyclingI collect glass in an old cat food bag (they're thick) on the back porchWhen I empty small trash cans, I first pull out recyclablesGlass I have to take in to a recycling centerIf, however, I had to take it all in to the recycling center, I'd probably have a sorting system at homeBecause at my particular center there are different dumpsters for different things (1 plastic, 2 plastic, glass, aluminum, steel, newpaper, mixed paper, and cardboard) and I wouldn't want to spend an extended amount of time at the recycling center, it would just make sense to pre-sortSo, really, it depends on the recycling system available to you how hard or easy it will be and what the best way to organize it will beDo a little research on your municipality, think a bit, and you should be able to find something that will work for you(And if it doesn't, tweak it.)
