Question:

3.7 jeep liberty 42rle transmission?

there are 4 bolts on the SIDE of the transmission, right side of the vehicle.what are these 4 bolts on the side of the transmission

Answer:

They are actually plugs that seal off Pressure Ports intended for use by qualified automotive technicians when you take your vehicle in for service. Ref. Figure 4 in the PDF file linked below. It is not necessary to bleed an automatic transmission as any air inside the internal components of the transmission will simply be pushed out as fluid is pumped through the unit during normal operation. If you need to remove excess fluid from the transmission, the safest and preferred way to do so is to insert a piece of clean plastic tubing or rubber hose down the dipstick tube or fill hole if your year model doesn't have a dipstick and draw it out with a suction pump designed for that type of use. Another (not recommended) option is to disconnect the Cooler Return line (Ref. Figure 3) and start the engine with the transmission in Neutral and the parking brake set until the appropriate amount of fluid is pumped out.
