About diesel electromechanical starter flywheel gear ring and flywheel
The assembly process in the factory is to heat the gear ring. Because of the expansion and contraction, the gear ring will become slightly larger so that it can be assembled with the flywheel.
When the gear ring is cooled, the gear ring fits firmly with the flywheel. It seems that the quenching of the gear ring is also in progress at the same time. Hope to be of help to you.
I'm not sure about the single cylinder. I think it should be the same as a multi cylinder engine. The gear ring and the flywheel are interference fit, and the exact tolerances need to be further investigated.
