Question:

Adding a gable vent fan?

My house is a stick built that is shaped like a double wideIt is 1000 sqftheated and a 100 sqftgarage built to the end of the house, all under one roofThe end has vents at the peak of the roof lineWould adding a single fan to one end of the house, exhaust the hot air that builds up in the attic area cut cooling cost in the summer? The attic is fully covered with 10quot; fiber insulation (blown in style) on the ceiling/floor.What about blocking the vents off in the winter, would that help on heating? There is only a 18quot; x 18quot; crawl space to enter the attic, no other openings to that space.I would only add one fan to one end of the roof and leave the other end a free flowThe attic actually gets around 120 degrees in the extreme summer, if not hotterWould I notice a difference in the actual living space below as far as cooling? My heat pump struggles to keep 79F in the extreme summer temps, and I have had it checked out.

Answer:

Mark I think it would help.i have converted the attic area into a bedroomSomeone got there before me and was not good at DIY, in fact I would not trust him with a screw driverThere was an old circular fan at one end not working and the attic area gets very hot in summer.well i fixed it up 3 summers ago and it makes a terrific difference to extraction of heat build up in hot weather.and it gets hot out here in summer. That fan is at one end and a window at the other which I have put a small cheap air con unit in the window and now the attic is much cooler in summerI am after a more powerful mobile type air con unit with hose to window takes up less window space and you can open the top window should you not need air con unitThe fan still is an asset to help remove the heat old but works real goodFan size is approx 15 inches dia (from blade motor to blade) !25 volt1.7amp 60 HZdelivery is 1140 CFM hope this is of use.
Foil has less unstick than parchment paperYou might as well put your macarons right on the baking sheet.
Foil might stick just as bad as putting right on a sheet pan Maybe a sheet pan with light buttering and dusting with flour would work better Otherwise you may be pealing foil from your macarons
yes use the thin aluminum foil sheets and grease it
