I work with publix supermarkets. my manager is being a stickler all of a sudden about not stashing floats in the freezer eben u go on break because it ruins the bearings .. I dont know if thats the actual name of the carts that we use.. They are for our stock and have a center wheel set for pivoting. Can anyone confirm if it is bad? if not, where is a source I can shove in my bosses face
Yep - bad news for the bearings. The wheel bearings in those things are unsealed ball bearings and are susceptible to getting water inside. Freezing makes the water crystallize and when it melts the dispersed water is changed to droplets that rust the balls and races. Bicycle wheels have the same problem. The carts belong to the store and the manager is responsible for seeing they are treated properly. As an employee your job is to treat them the way the manager says. If he says pour acid on them, pour acid on them.
