Question:

Are their additives in single-grade oils?

I know that there are not viscosity modifier additives, but are there usually other additives like dispersants and such? Or are those, along with viscosity modifiers, only in multi-grade oils?

Answer:

if you want a good cheap oil use shell rotella 5w40. do not use a 0w weight oil. thicker better. 5w40 is usually not too thick of an oil, but do not use thicker then this.
If you want an oil without dispersants buy a non-detergent oil. All oils have additives. Non-detergent oils are designed for engines without oil filters and let the dirt form into a sticky sludge to keep it out of the bearings. Not recommended for much of anything but lawn mowers.
