Question:

Bike wheels: which is strongest?

Hi,Which is strongest or supports more weight: a 26 mountain bike wheel, or a 20 BMX wheel. In the configuration I‘ll be using it, the wheel will not be subject to bumps or hard landings. I asked numerous bike mechanics and got different answers everytime, so it‘s not as obvious to everyone as one might think. Thanks for your answers!

Answer:

Sculpture classes are more free-form and deal with creating three dimensional works of art from a variety of materials. The sculpture class I attended focused only on working with clay, so it may vary from school to school. Ceramics classes focus on creating functional pieces (bowls, mugs, vases, etc.) from clays. If you're looking to work with a potter's wheel, this would be the class for you.
Sculpture refers to any 3D artwork, no matter what it is made from. Sculpture classes will expect from you that you produce art works instead of functional items. The materials and techniques you will be exposed to depend on the facilities and the teacher. Ceramics classes restrict what you work with to clay. A ceramics class might be more restricted to making functional items and learning to use a pottery wheel, but it really depends on the teacher. They could do hand building and let you do clay sculpture. If you really want to know contact the teacher. Basically you have to ask them for a description. Ask at whatever contact is given in the class. If it is at an university your fellow students should know or even the administrators or your adviser.
the 20 inch wheel is definitely stronger, but 26 inch wheels roll better with less rolling resistance offroad, that's why they have 29er mountain bikes. small wheels are always stronger but they suck for a number of other reasons.
it depends on the kind, mountain bike wheels and bmx wheels come in different amounts of spokes, the more there are generally the stronger it is. Bmx are generally stronger however because the smaller diameter makes them harder to bend/put out of true
A wider wheel with thicker spokes is stronger. As well the number of spokes makes it stronger. As a bmx has shorter spokes I must say that it should be stronger than a mountainbike 26 wheel, but a cheap bmx wheel may not be as strong as a quality handbuilt mountain wheel. You did not offer wheel specs so this is all I can say
