Question:

Books for learning real estate???

Can anyone recomend a good book for learning about real estate? Im thinking of getting my license but really would like to do some reading on my own before I jump into it. and if it helps I live in Florida. and work for a home builder. Thanks

Answer:

most book stores have all the current real estate handbooks with test questions for your state
Go to your favorite bookstore, grab a comfortable seat, and check out the most current books, since the market has changed considerably. Dearborn makes a good set of books tailored to help with prelicensing and post licensing classes. They would definitely give you a taste for what you have to learn: real estate in general, real estate law, financing, title and survey, closing procedures, commercial and residential properties, ethics, licensure and continuing education, and a little bit about marketing and business plans. Good luck and best wishes.
Now is not the best time since the market is so slow here. I got my license in Florida in December. It only took me about a month and I did almost all of the course online. Reading a book about it would just be like taking the course. If you are really interested take the course. If not wait until the market picks back up. You wont make much money now and you have to renew your license after about a year and a half. So I would suggest to wait...p.s. a book wont help very much.. there is a lot to learn and the best way is by actually getting ur license and doing it.
Go to your state website and look under Florida real esta license requirements. They usually recommend books there as well. If your looking into becoming an agent please just buy the Florida real estate basics or principles book and the Florida State exam book. Those are the only materials you should read through and throughly understand. Anything else will confuse you and the state usually wants you to know everything by the book. Also once you are ready to take the tests and the exam, study only the answers and not the questions. It elinates alot of headache when you are trying to study so much.
