Question:

Can aluminum foil be used as extra cable shielding?

I'm planning on setting up a gigabit network in my house, and I'd really like to run cat5e because it's half the price of cat6, the longest cable run being maybe 75'First, is the a good idea? Second, I was going to run the wire through some pvc to guide it though, and I was wondering if I could somehow line the tube with foil, would that act as another shield? I thought it might help, but I don't want to do it if its useless or would hurt.

Answer:

If you wrap it immediately it will become soggyCool completely before wrapping for storage
I'm not sure but can you give me the recipe please
no it has to cool all the way
You have to let it cool or it will be soggyAfter it is cool there is plenty of moisture in banana bread to keep it from being dryI wrap mine in wax paper and then in foil.
I would not scrimp in the cable if it is your intent to run GigabyteAlso, I have no idea where you live but running cables in your wall and running those cables through PVC may not be up to building codesYou can certainly do this without checking building codes is certainly doable but cut rise up to bite you at some future timeAlso, trying to line that PVC for additional shielding with aluminum foil is just plain screwy (nor will it work).
