Question:

Can you press charges on a person in another state?

Assualt charges?my husband assaulted me and Ive left him and moved to another state but ive been talking to some people and they told that I should press charges even tho it happened in another state.is it possible?

Answer:

no you left a time slot in between now and the time it happened and you left the state you cant do anything but take him to civil court. and you dont press charges you file charges.
How long ago did this happen? If it was recent your local pd can contact his local pd and press charges and get a restraining order.
You can't press charges. Period. Only the DA or Prosecuting Attorney can do that. What you CAN do is reprt the incident to police, who will then investigate (if there's credible evidence) refer the case for prosecution. Bear in mind that if charges are pressed they MUST be filed in the jurisdiction where the crome occurred. That means it will not be where you currently live.
