Question:

Ceiling leaks when adjusting the pressure on boiler?

My water goes from boiling to cool within seconds so my husband changed the pressure (twice now) on the boiler which helps the water stay hot for a while. After that my ceiling started leaking directly under my bathroom radiator and about 2 feet away from my boiler. I can't find any other water and there's a huge yellow patch and it's now leaking on the other side of the wall in my kitchen. Why is this happening and how do I fix it?

Answer:

Sounds like you sprung a leak in your attic call a plumber and then repair your ceiling the water is traveling
If it is a steam system, it sounds like the boiler might be over filled (so water is going up the pipes that only should have steam) and squirting out the air vent(s) of the lowest radiators in the system. If it is a manual fill valve, it might be leaking or not fully closed, if it is an automatic one, something (probably water level sensor) is out of adjustment or valve sticking open. if this is the case, the extra water in the boiler will need to be drained back to the normal level. The boiling to cool thing might be if you have a tempering valve in your system (this allows some cold water to bleed into the hot pipe so the water heated by the boiler isn't practically boiling hot at the faucet). Sounds like it is set to the coolest setting or damaged. Anyway, it is very hard to diagnose such things without knowing any details of what kind of boiler mode of heating the domestic hot water. Hope this is of some help.
pressure and temperature relief valve leaking. What? Pray tell ,does turning up the pressure have to do with how hot your water is?
