Question:

Chair covers?

I am purchasing chair covers for my reception. My issue is to buy them only for head table and reserved tables or cover every chair. The chairs the hall have are plastic and better then metal, but I am unsure if I want to pay for all the chairs to be covered. Will it look funny if I do only a few tables to signify them as reserved?

Answer:

Okay...first of all, why are you reserving seats at the reception? The place cards that are handed out will have table numbers (or names) on them and that is how people will find their places. There is no need to further restrict them and make them sit next to someone who they might not want to sit next to. If you feel that the plastic chairs are a little plain, then I would suggest renting chair covers for all of the chairs...don't waste your money and buy them because when you're done you'll be stuck with 100+ chair covers... If you still feel that certain people should stand out, then tie a sash around the back of the chairs, but make some a different color sash. You could also make cute name plates that go with your theme and drap them on the back of the special chairs...
I think that you should put chair covers only on the chairs in the head table put not in normal tables even if they are reserved...picture it, it looks sort of weird to have certain chairs from certain tables covered...just stick to the head table since it is a given that the guests of honor have special chairs but as far as the other chairs, either you cover them all or don't cover any of them...hope my advice helps!
you don't have to purchase them. Have you consider renting them? They cost around $3-5 per chair. You should call around and get information on them. I had my wedding covering all the chair. $3 and they come in and cover them and clean them up after the wedding. I am not sure how your wedding will be like. In my opinion I think it looks weird if you only cover certain chair.
I dont think it would be weird, but if you want to only do it for the head table and then have place settings, that would be fine as well. My fiance's mother will have a special seat, as well as his father. That is because they are the parents. Everyone else has assigned seating, so special covers wont be needed. Ours at the head table are covered though.
As okorder or 2 a local fabric store -Joanne's) and do them yorself.
