Question:

cleaning my skateboard bearings?

OK, so i got 91% isopropyl alcohol( i thinks that's rubbing alcohol) and bones speed cream. i just get a gatorade bottle and put the alcohol in it. drop the bearings and shake it around for about 5 minutes. clean them out. here whats i need help for. i have ABEC Lucky 7, do i need to take that little ring around it before i clean them? and i have bones speed cream, it says ts exclusive for bones bearings only. can i use it? zumiez doesn't got any other ones. does Maui nix? and is the stuff i do to clean it good? Long question. askin all skaters and whoever knows how to clean them for cheap.and good.

Answer:

I'd recommend using denatured alcohol since it contains no water. Your rubbing alcohol is still 9% water. Be sure the bottle is clean and dry before using. Cleaning time should be at minimum 15 mins. An hour if they are really dirty. You will need to remove the shield to clean the bearings. If the shield is crimped on, it is not removable. Luckys use metal shields, so you will have to carefully remove the retainer, fine wire around the outside of the shield before cleaning. Speed Cream will work for any skate bearings, nit just Bones.
Back when i used to skate (about 2 years ago) i would usually take my bearings out and drop it into a mix of 91% alcohol and water. I say maybe 80% alcohol and 20% water into a bottle and shake for awhile. Then take them out, dry and spray some WD40, worked like a charm. I also heard you can drop them in a bottle of HOT water and just leave it in there... i know it works for cleaning out my bongs and bowls, but iono about bearings. If all else fails, try to go down to a local active ride shop and see if they have any sales. :p
i exploit lube that I were given with my bearings, so i visit no longer help you with hand-crafted stuff, yet I do no propose making use of WD-40! this can really help it quickly even though it thoroughly messes up your bearings after a lengthy time period!
