Took my car in to get some belts replaced and the guys there wrote some more things that are wrong with my car and how much they cost. One of the things they put were CV axles costing 115 each(if they use their own parts). I‘ve looked everywhere to see if i could get them for a cheaper price but I cant find a cv axle anywhere. I‘ve found cv joints and a cv driveshaft. Anyone know what they could be talking about? And how much of these cv axles i will need as they stated that its 115 each? Thanks in advance! Cv axle also known as cv driveshaft or cv driveaxle they are all the same shops always up the cost for parts. i work at autozone and it cost $59.99 for it plus a $75.00 core charge but that gets returned to you when you give them your old one. Shops don't get the core charged to them. also shops have to make some kind of money off of it so they up the charge. It usually better if you buy the part and have them put it on, even though they hate it. but the most they will charge you is 1 hour worth of labor which is somewhere around $65 to $75 a hour.
Well let's see. I replaced a CVC axle on My Wife's' Van and it ran about $63.00. I asked around and was Quoted $375.00 per Axle and I said yea right, Look for a part store that delivers. Mean while go to Checkers and get a Book that shows how to work on your Camry 1992 (Chilton 1992 Toyota Camry) Read through it and you will see that it's not that difficult. Follow the steps, keep bolts were you know were they go and remove your busted CVC Axle. Remember that there is a long axle and a short axle. The parts store will ask you which side it came off of, passenger or Drivers side. This is important. When the Part delivery person gets there make sure to compare New and old Axle for fit. Reverse your tear down and put it back together. It will take you about an Hour to tear down and 15 minutes to rebuild. Make sure you have the right tools and get busy. Good luck.
