here in connecticut, i have seen them with the half round copper gutters and the plain old aluminumi thought the aluminum looked better on the houses that i sawthere was one near where i used to live that had a wooden V shaped trough built on to the rafter tailsunless it was lined with copper it would be hard to maintain, i would thinkthough it probably looked the best of all of themhope this helps you outhappy new year!
