Question:

Do I need a NEW TRANSMISSION?

I bought a car last year. Honda Civic 02 and now it reported a PO740 error code in the engine light. They told me I needed a new transmission. I remember though, when I bought the car, the guy who sold it to me said it had a new transmission. I don‘t know if he was lying to me or not. But if my car did have a new transmission when I bought it do you think it could break down like it just did now? If this is the case i don‘t think getting a new transmission would solve the problem since it would be the 2nd time changing it, right? If not then, i am willing to get a new transmission.

Answer:

Long skirts make me gag. Very ancient-librarian-lady-trying-to-be-fash. Stick to short dresses- or sometimes a knee-length one if its cute
I use to work for a Honda dealership and that code is not a trans. code. I think it is a Torque Converter. go to the dealership and have them pull the code and they will tell you what is is 100% good luck
If it is a new transmission it probably has a warranty. You'll need to find out who put it in and how to avail yourself of the warranty service. Of course, this is when you'll find out that new transmission means the guy put one in from a junkyard and you ave no warranty at all. Go to a transmission place and have them look at it. Of course, they will tell you the estimate is hundreds of dollars because they have to tear the trans apart to give the estimate. Better warm up the old checkbook!
I doubt that it had a new transmission when you bought it. It may have been rebuilt or even exchanged with a used one and people will call that new simply because it is not original and is new to that vehicle. If it was rebuilt and not rebuilt by Honda then it would not be unusual for it to be causing problems. I would not have anyone rebuild a Honda transmission except Honda; otherwise I would replace with a used one.
