Question:

Do I need to rent chairs for my destination wedding?

I am planning a small intimate wedding for 30 or less in. Ft. Lauderdale. Do I HAVE to rent chairs? Does anyone have a fun idea for not using chairs?

Answer:

Well it depends really. Do you plan having it at a facility designed for weddings? Or at the beach? If you had it at a wedding-specific location, the chairs should be available within the cost of the hall rental. I would advise you do rent chairs. Are you going to be inviting older guests? Some people have leg/back problems and are unable to stand up for more than 15 minutes at a time. Receptions tend to be 3-5 hours long. Having no chairs would leave your guests in aches and pains, rather than having a fun time celebrating your day! Chairs are not that expensive if you look around for the best price. :) If you do rent chairs, make sure that the signed agreement states the chairs are in pristine condition. I rented tables and they were scuffed and just in horrible condition. Thank goodness for table linens! Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials!! :)

You don't have to. I have been to a couple of weddings where the guests all stood during the ceremony. It's just more comfortable for the guests if you can find something for them to sit on. Personally, I'd be really happy if you laid out blankets for everybody to sit on, but I'm somebody who really likes sitting on the ground/ floor. I can't say how anybody else would feel about that.
No, you don't have to. I am having an outdoor wedding. We are providing on 10 chairs. These chair are for the granparents who will not be able to stand very long. It should also halp to create an aisle because guests will stand behind the chairs. 5 on one side, 5 on the other. It also shows people how far back they should stand. If all of your guests are able to stand for a while, then why bother? Its just a waste of money. I have been to weddings where there were no chairs and no one complained. Congrats
Hi. You don't say where exactly you wedding is going to be. Is this going to be on a beach? If so....no, you do not need to rent chairs IF the ceremony is going to be short. If you have anyone that is elderly, then it would be a nice gesture. Also, another thing to thing to remember is that your guests will be arriving (hopefully!) about 10-15 minutes before the ceremony....so even if the ceremony is only 15-20 minutes, they could be potentially standing for a good 30-45 minutes total so think about that when making your decision. Most rental places will rent chairs for $1 or $1.50 each. They are not that expensive and they do make for a nice appearance in the pictures. Good luck and I hope you have a beautiful wedding!
