Question:

Do I take my new Job Offer or stick with my current job????

I was offered a job in the same general posistion for a YOUNG company that has offered me 15.00 more a hour, lead position, training in a differnt brand of the same product I work on and, basicly the freedom to choose my own hours (avg. 40-55 hrs). Or do I stay where I am at were I have some stabability, lead position, unstable hours (avg. 40-65 hrs plus nights away from home/family), possabilities of advancment and, a since of loyalty to bosses. Note: I worked hard to get where I am at, however, my current knowledge is the bases for new job. WHAT DO I DO????????????

Answer:

I could be wrong, but it depends on how many years you've been working there and how many people depend on your steady paycheck. I don't know the industry your working in, but it's possible that those hours could be the norm for a person in your present position. Sometimes, casual promises, of better pay or hours are worth what you pay for them and are not a guarantee. If you aren't having trouble communicating with your boss, have a talk, tell him how you feel about it. He might surprize you!. Good Luck!
It all depends on you. If you want to get paid more and have more free time with your family then choose the new job but if you want to have a stable job and not have as much time with your family then stay with your job. If i was you I would go to the new job but thats just me.
Get yourself a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle. Write on the top of each side current job or possible job and then list the benefits and drawbacks about each position so you know exactly what you think of each. Take this information and speak with someone you trust who doesn't have a direct role in this decision - a parent, brother, sister, or friend. Your spouse/significant other should be consulted about this decision, but sometimes it also helps to speak with someone who isn't directly impacted by your decision. If money is the deciding factor, go with the new position. It also sounds as if you can make more money working less hours and have more time with your family. How are the benefits at each company? If the cost of health care is more at the new company versus the old one or is not as good of coverage you might consider staying if healthcare coverage is a major factor for you. Let's face it, in this day and age no job is stable and guaranteed, even if you own your own company.
A very young company often provides excellent opportunities for advancement since you can grow with the company. So, you have to decide whether you'd rather take a bigger risk for what could be a much bigger payoff. Because, a large number of new businesses fold within the first 5 years. The theory that the hours will be dramatically different is probably wrong. You work as many hours as you do at your present job because that's how you achieve your objectives. If this is essentially the same industry, you should assume that success will require the same effort level at the new business. The type of position also influences the answer to this question. For example, if you were in a sales position, selling an unknown brand would offer a great deal of risk, and potentially major barriers to success. If you're in a web design position, a young company may offer much more opportunity for success since you don't have to overcome the mistakes which have already been made, and have more freedom to innovate. So, think about the type of position you work, and how the position will be different in a start-up.
I would not say LEAVE or STAY. Think it twice. I know you can decide the best. Discuss it with your wife/husband or any family members. GOOD LUCK!
