Question:

Do those gas additives advertised on TV really add to gas mileage?

Do those gas additives advertised on TV really add to gas mileage?

Answer:

Not at all. Most all of them have been tested and found to be useless. The ones not yet tested are also useless. (Beware of ANYTHING advertised on TV) Remember smiling BOB? the product was/is completely a ripoff and the so-called money back guarantee was a ripoff too. No one got the results that were promised and no one got a refund.
if your fuel injectors are dirty,,they could help a bit,,,if not than no,,,major causes of low mpg are usually low tire pressure or ignition tune up] problem
In an otherwise good running engine, they do not increase mileage. Even if a $3.00 can of 8oz additive in a 15 gallon tank did increase mileage, the increase would have to be about 6% to break even. Remember, you'd be adding $3 to the cost of a tank of gas. To make it worth my effort, I would need to see more than a 10% increase. Save your money.
