Question:

Does a laptop transfer cable actually transfer data from one computer?

I bought a new Windows 7 laptop and want to make it a mirror image of my old Windows XP laptop. So I bought a Belkin transfer cable.Does a laptop transfer cable actually transfer or move data from one laptop to the other?Or does is copy it, and then transfer it to the other computer?I don't want to lose the data from the old laptop, I want it to be on both.

In general a transfer cable will only allow you to see your other computer in Windows Explorer, not transfer it. It would be the same as if you plugged in a USB drive to your new computer.
