they mean like hair metal bands and possibly screamo as of now Poison, Warrant, White Lion, Whitesnake, Winger, and Faster Pussycat I like those bands up there
well i don't know any false metal band's but i know a real one (im a hardcore fan of this one :P) System of a Down. Their best songs are probably Question! and Hypnotize.
why is someone thumbing down the above answers? , they're right...false metal was an 80's term that reffered to hair and glam bands..also called poser metal..examples: poison, winger, extreme, warrant
False Metal = Commercialized, watered down, and often incredibly generic bands that are passed off as Metal by MTV and Hot Topic despite the lack of Metal influences in these bands. Mainly comprised of Nu-Metal bands and certain Post Hardcore-influenced Metalcore bands. Examples: Slipknot, Atreyu, Bullet for my Valentine, Korn, Linkin Park etc. Yep, I like BFMV and Linkin Park.
Heavy metal fans from the 1980's classify a lot of stuff in the past two decades as false metal. Examples would be In Flames, Amon Armath, and just about any Nu Metal band you can come up with. Personally, I like Mudvayne, which falls under this category. At the same point in time, I don't think of them as metal anyway.
