Question:

Engine smoke from transmission?

Gasket between motor and transmission? Ballpark cost?

Answer:

Engine smoke never comes from the transmission. There is no gasket between the engine and transmission bell-housing.
Is it the rear main on thr engine or the input seal on thr trans one cost more than the other(no more obama)
We need more information, such as make, model, and year? And I don't know what you mean about engine smoke from the transmission? It is not possible for engine smoke to come out of the bellhousing between engine and transmission. Perhaps what happened is you burned up a clutch and have smoke from the clutch slipping? If so, it should stink. Burned clutch has a very distinctive industrial odor. If it is a clutch, the transmission has to be removed and installed, so is usually around $200 parts and 5 hours labor. About $600 total.
