Question:

Explain this bending of space to me?

The rubber sheet analogy is confusing because it appears that space is only bending around the Earth's southern hemisphere. Sorta like the Earth is sitting on top of space rather than been submerged in it.

Answer:

Leaking at a fitting, or mid-pipe? If it's mid-pipe, you've got a corroded pipe and will have to replace it. If it's leaking at a fitting, you can disconnect with a couple pipe wrenches, apply teflon tape or joint putty (I think putty does a better job on the coarse threads of galvanized pipe), and put it back together. For a temporary fix, there are what are essentialy pipe bandaids a wide hose-clamp with a rubber sleeve inside - wrap it around the leaking point and cinch down the clamps but this is stricly a temporary fix. With threaded pipe, it's usually a bit of a puzzle to undo a fitting mid-run. You may have to remove several fittings/lengths of pipe to get to your leaking one.
Put the copper pipe back which you have stolen and there's the fix to the leak.
Just make sure all your paper is totally smooth, no wrinkles or bends. Have enough paper in your intake and check to see if it has any foreign objects inside the printer. If you have anything sharp or hanging out, this may cause a snag. Any of these can cause the paper to snag and jam. Make sure the paper is tight. There is an adjustment that will snug up the paper stack, so it won't be wobbling into the printer. If you continue having jams, take it back and exchange it. There could be something that shouldn't be there, and its causing the jamming. Remember to snug up the stack, so it goes in straight and tight.
