Question:

Ford Ranger transmissions?

I have a 1994 Ford Ranger v6 4.0L 2wd with an automatic transmission. I just took it to a shop and they said I need to either have it rebuilt for over $2000 or get a new one. I was wondering what years of Ford Rangers have transmissions that are compatible.

Answer:

Another 94-earlier A4LD trans behind a 4.0L would work.
I remember a couple of years back I tried to rebuild the transmission in my 2.3 liter mustang. It was obvious I had no idea what I was doing. This is what I did. After I dropped the transmission myself I just bought a rebuild kit with all of the seals for it wich was like 92 bucks or something like that and then I just took it to a transmission repair shop and they only wacked me like 345 dollars. Of course I had to reinstall the transmission myself. That was a couple of years back to and for a totaly different vehicle so I still don't know how much they would still charge you. That was the only downside. I am almost certain some of the ford arostar vans are compatible. I am not sure if one from a 4 cylinder would work or not. I was thinking about just replacing the transmission in the mustang at first with one in an old arostar van. I know it is easier to rebuild a manual transmission than an automatic. To many parts in an automatic.
The arms just need to be tightened down into the little post that turns back and forth. If they come loose they will just sit there. You might even be able to do it yourself. If there are teeth on the post, like little gears, it will be harder to fix.
examine to make certain no longer something on your engine is coming in touch with the transmission drain and fill up the transmission fluid. Plus because of the fact its a 1990 its notably old so its gonna act up slightly. I also have a ninety 8 eclipse that doesnt even have 100k miles on it and my transmission went by using a time of undesirable functioning i found out that the owner earlier had poorly put in the chilly air consumption which became coming in touch with my transmission little adjustment and it became fantastic.
