Question:

Gall Bladder Removal?

I got my Gall Bladder out on FridayShould I be having problems with bowel activities? I have gone number 2 once since the surgery a week ago.

Answer:

As with any abdominal surgery, there are minor upsets in the digestive system after gallbladder removalI imagine you didn't eat very well before the surgery, and probably didn't eat a lot in the days immediately followingSo there's not been a lot in the system to move along reallyIf you feel the need to go and are in difficulty, try a glass of the water soluble fiber drinkThat should work to loosen matters up nicelyIf you haven't had much solid food this past week, it may take a bit to get the system up running properly againUsually it takes a day or so of all solid food meals to have anything to go withJust keep an eye on the amount of fat you eat Otherwise, you will want to be adding in the roughage at this point, the salad veggies and fiber, to get things back to normal Without the gallbladder storing bile, you can overload the system if you take in too much fat, and diarrhea and gas will be a fairly quick resultYou'll have to learn your own personal tolerance through experiment, I'm afraidI don't suggest a full fry up meal, but just start slowly adding in fats until you make the decisionIf the fiber drink doesn't help, then your next item to try is milk of magnesia, along with some whole grains and salad veggies, and plenty of water/fluidDon't do a laxative, as the last thing you want right now is diarrhea and gasIf things are really difficult, the doctor can give you a stool softener to helpGood luck dear, and may the rest of the recovery go well.
Yes but grease it or the foil will stick, also watch out for melted cheese which will also stick.
